The Petty Tyrant's Matrix: Why We Tolerate Fear-Based Environments and How to Navigate Them Like a Warrior

Greetings!
I’m Anaam from The Nagual Zone,
Today, I want to share with you why environments and matrices of fear are tolerated and in place within any group of people.
For example, let’s say you have a forum, and this forum is owned by this vocal coach that provides a lot of very high-quality content on how to sing well. But this guy runs this forum like a real tyrant, like a real Hitler. Anything you say, even a mention of any other vocal technique outside of this guy’s particular teaching - it’s kind of like a cult, really - they will delete it, and they will give you one warning saying if you do this again, then we’ll boot you out. And this is after you pay hundreds of dollars to purchase this guy’s course. Your membership in this forum comes as part of what you’ve paid for. He’s a petty tyrant along with his staff who is enforcing his rules and he gets to act out his sense of small power within this forum, and no one says anything towards this attitude.
Do you know why?
It’s because no one wants to walk away from the benefits.
No one says anything in this forum because they are there to learn about singing. So in effect, they overlook what is really bullying and actually damaging to the soul of the person in favor of the benefits that they’re getting in enhancing their art.
I’ve been in these kinds of situations in martial art dojos, in these new-age spiritual culty guru settings too. I haven’t subscribed to those things, but I’ve witnessed and observed these matrices of fear and petty tyranny in place there and people put up with these things because they don’t want to walk away from the benefits.
What would a warrior do into a situation like this?
What the warrior does is he/she will bring in consciousness and awareness into the situation and really weigh up the pros and cons, the benefits and the losses. They really first weigh it up in a cold, calculated way, an impersonal way. What am I getting out of this? How am I going to go about getting whatever I want out of this in the most efficient way possible, in the most impersonal way possible, so that the knowledge I gain is what I focus on, and I don’t get victimized or get sucked into the victim energy of these fear-based mind matrices. I get what I need to get, and I get out.
And so, a warrior never gets personally involved in the fear and the bullying.
It isn't easy to keep a clear head when these influences come at you and start to grip at your soul but if it’s not made conscious, if you’re not taking charge of your decision, if you’re not saying to yourself consciously, “I know exactly what damage this stuff does. What I get out of it is so valuable to me right now that I’m willing to put up with this nonsense and just focus on what I need. Dip in, dip out, do what I need to do, and go.”
If you don’t make it conscious, then you will be playing that game of petty tyrant and victim. Yes, you will learn things but it won’t be the warrior’s way. It will be the average man’s way.
There are vicious women as well who have groups that they rule with an iron hand. I used to work in a shop many, many years ago where this woman, by far, easily one of the scariest females I’ve ever had the misfortune to come across. She was a petty tyrant as if it was a natural talent for her - like Mozart had natural talent for music this woman was born to be a petty tyrant!
It was really quite amazing to witness and fortunately, my training provided me with excellent tools to make the most out of that situation. However, I saw a lot of other people suffer. Once there even was a customer complaint to the owner saying, “Who’s this woman who runs your shop? she’s utterly awful and treats customers like her personal enemies” because she just exuded a repellent energy.
And no wonder that that woman started as an employee but she ended up taking over the business and ran it exactly how she wanted it. The shop was owned by a man who was a really lovely man but she literally ate him alive - ate his soul alive. That’s ultimately what a petty tyrant does. They’re there to eat you; they’re there to eat your awareness, eat your decisions, and impose their decisions on you whether you like it or not.
You too will find yourself in these situations of fear-based petty tyranny. Are you going to make it a conscious decision to swim in those waters? Make it a very sober and pragmatic decision. Don’t just flail about in there, finding yourself in a petty tyrant situation, “She does this to me, he does this to me.” No, that’s the average man’s way - complaining and whatnot.
It’s like a chessboard. Make moves that always give you an out, that give you that feeling of inner freedom, where you know you can walk away, kick those benefits aside and walk away anytime you want.
If you are in the grip of those benefits - if those benefits have chained you to that petty tyrant matrix, then you’re not a warrior. You’re not behaving like one; you’re not free in any sense of the word. You’re simply enchained to the dangling carrot.
Don’t take petty tyrants for granted - the opportunity they present is truly golden in order to make clear choices.
Till next time,
Walk in freedom.
Anaam
